De-coding natural disasters in visions & dreams
Meeting an Eagle-Man
Note: If you’d like to deepen the immersion, you can listen to this song as you read, it’s one of my go-to songs to aid my dives…
I heard a voice call to me, so I turned around and saw the face of an eagle, on the body of a man. His hair was like Marcus's, which transitioned around the back of the head and neck. I was in a green space with grass and trees and small boulders. The eagle-man began walking, so I followed. As we walked he was saying something and he was moving his arms around, emphasizing things as he said them. Then I realized that it seemed like he had wings instead of arms. I tried to take a closer look and saw arms attached to the underside of his wings. When I saw this I remembered reading a strange description of angels who had “hands under their wings,” and decided this must be what they were trying to describe.
“So who are you?” I asked the creature as we walked.
“I'm Ohn’amaru, and you are the young one.”
I found myself thinking how I can’t possible be the only young person the angels are training, so I found the comment to be an odd one. I simply cocked my head at him.
“No, ‘the’ doesn’t mean the only one, but it means you are the one I am training today. I am stating our relationship to each other.”
“Oh,” I said. “Whats an On’amaru then? Is that your name?”
“No, my name is complex and above you. An Onamaru simply means I am above you.”
I nodded. Then I noticed something as I looked at him, though he had the face of a bald eagle, his eyes were blue. I am not sure I have ever seen a bird with blue eyes, but I have seen many angels with blue eyes. There must be something about that, I thought. The pupils were so huge that most of the eyes looked black, yet they were surrounded by a shimmering blue colored iris that filled the remainder of the eye up to its’ lids.
“Onamaru, what are we going to do today?”
“First, we are going to fly. Run with me.” He began running, and I ran next to him. As he ran ahead of me I noticed he had the feet of an eagle. He let out a whistle and a griffin appeared, he then used his wing-hand to direct it ahead and down just behind a cliff edge. We were running directly toward the edge, I realized the creature was being positioned so that I could run and jump off the cliff and onto his back.
Running off the cliff was less climactic than I’d expected, I ran off, then mostly just dropped straight down and onto the griffin’s back. But he was off in such a flash it seemed to compensate for the unimpressive landing.
“This time as you fly, you look.” He pointed down through the openings in the clouds toward some sea and land below us. I could see mostly water and an island, on the island was a volcano that was erupting.
“What is that volcano?” I asked him.
“That Little One, is turbulence.
“What does a volcano do?” He prodded.
“It has tubes that run deep into the earth, it pulls lava up from deep places onto the surface.” I paused, “it reshapes the land. It destroys some things, but it can also make land where there was only water before.”
“So it is a redistributing?” He coaxed, encouraging me to absorb my own answer.
“Yes.”
His wings made a soft flapping noise as he flew besides me. “Tell me Little One, why would redistribution be a desirable thing?”
“Um, if old things aren’t serving their purpose well, then it might be desirable to change the status quo.”
“Yes.” His voice suddenly carried something akin to a purr in it.
His obvious approval made feel like I had accomplished something.
“So it’s like remodeling a house, aye?” His questions were clearly meant to guide me to some realization.
“Yes, but we are often changing the land, clearing spaces and planting others. Are you trying to make a point about land being our home?”
“Well, you humans do live on land, but that is not the point I am getting at.”
“Volcanoes represent a shifting of power balance, they take deep things from below the sea, and raise them above the sea, they change where there is land and where the sea lies. What was below is above, and what was once above has now been brought below… Now, what do fires do?”
“They strip away dead and dry things and encourage new growth.” I answered.
“Yes is it like the processes within your own body where old things are cast off and new skin cells and bones are built. -
“The same processes that you see in the body, you will see in Eco-systems on a larger scale. Eco-systems too, can be thought of as larger bodies, for they follow that pattern, but here you see whole creatures doing the various tasks required to maintain the body. So too, the body of believers should be built in a similar way, it should be like an Eco-system.”
As On’amaru explained this example I saw images of wolves hunting, acting as the immune system for an entire forest, and I saw rivers flowing like the blood of our veins, there were also scavengers consuming refuse cleaning up the dead debris in the forest...
My vision returned to the flight at hand, we were now well past the island, immersed in clouds above the sea. “What about hurricanes?” he asked me.
“I don’t know. They seem like out of control forces, they don’t seem to hold the same potential for positive affects as the others.”
“Out in the open ocean, winds can blow and waves can rock. But when it comes in land, this is not it’s place.”
“Are you teaching me spiritual symbolism?” I asked.
“Yes. Many have dreams or visions where they see things like fires and tornadoes and assume that the same disaster is coming in the physical realm, rather than looking for the deeper symbolism to understand what it actually coming...”
With those words he seemed to have concluded our lesson and the griffin I was riding turned and headed back for land…

If a friend came to mind while you were reading I’d be honored if you shared with them…
As a young person I was deeply troubled by the way that many people who claimed to have dreams and visions were also the harbingers of terror and apocalypse. This dive was incredibly healing for me as it helped me explain that visions of fires and earthquakes don’t usually mean there is impending doom headed our way, as we so often think.
