Life Paths: The Prophet, the Noble or the Poor
How the desires of the culturally impoverished differ from those of noble character & How mystics break with societal norms.
This is the second half of the dive that was published in April as “Temples: From Gold to Embodiment.” The excerpts can be read in any order. If you’d like to read the first half, click here.

Note
In this dive Jesus talks about the “poor” and the “survivors.” During this dive he is not talking about a person’s monetary status. Rather, he is referring to a poor cultural state that sometimes accompanies those who are impoverished. Some who are are rich from a monetary stand-point also possess these unhealthy cultural traits. Meaning that some who are wealthy in money are still poor in culture. In contrast, some who have little economically are of noble character. These are two different metrics, which only sometimes overlap.
When you read this dive please keep in mind that words such as “poor” are referring to poor habits and lifestyles.

Life Paths:
The Prophet, the Noble or the Poor
Then a thought occurred to me, “Jesus, it sounds like you are saying that you cannot have the comforts of both man and God? That you have to pick one. Is that right?”
“Yes, child. There is the comfort and guiding of The Spirit. You experienced this on your road trip, and it was a strange way to live. Yet, you were taken care of. I am not saying you cannot have a warm house, but yes there are many comforts, like insurances, that men love to give each other so that they can rest in peace. But you must choose - the comfort of the Spirit and her guidance, or would you prefer the reassurances of men?”
“For men promise that nothing will ever happen, and that you will die fat and happy, living off your 401K and watching television - which is a reward you have earned. In their world, you earn the right to live in such a way. First, you are a slave and work very hard. But if you do, then you will be allowed to lord-it-over your offspring, no longer needing to lift a finger. You will earn the right to be a kind of cheap nobility for the latter years of your life.”
“They teach that you have earned the right to squander things: your energy, body, time and money. Squandering is your reward for a hard life… This is the way of the {culturally} impoverished.”
“Often those who are poor do not lust over the noble or worthwhile traits of the nobility. They think to themselves: ‘hey I’d like to waste a bunch of money on a big boat. It must be nice...’ Or, ‘gee I want to languish around and relax while I undergo a bunch of spa treatments at a fancy hotel. Yes, that sounds nice. I’d love to be bored and pampered… I don’t want to be strained, hard-working, or think-hard to make a living.’ This is what they think of as ‘relaxing.’ They do not know peace, so they have weird aims. These are the aims of the survivors.”
“Instead, I can give you peace, even as you venture from place to place, or make difficult journeys to avoid the harsh treatment of an enclosing empire. I can give peace in the context of motion, and I can give joy. There is a kind of difficulty to the ways that I lead you. Yet, there is also a lightness and an ease to it. My ways are mysterious and not understood by those who are not in the river. Those who have never felt its pull cannot understand the ways of the currents.”
“The poor do not understand when something like a large yacht is not wasteful, when instead it is within someone’s means. And they do not always recognize the noble traits of the wealthy. They tend, simply, to lust over the superficial niceties of those better off than themselves.”
Jesus then turned to me, his voice growing affectionate. “I would like to give you nice things. And I would like to walk you through many different ways of life. Sometimes I will walk you through grand hotels and the finest of luxuries. You will sit with nobles and eat with them. Other times, I will take you to secret places in nothing but a humble tent. Your journey in the wilderness was a picture of your life, a road-map of what is to come if you walk with me. You will taste the finest wines, and you will eat humble oats warmed over a fire. You will share a simple cup of tea with a man in a third world country who lives in a hut. And you will also counsel the wealthy…”
“You must learn that to be a prophet is to be like me, {Jesus.} For they are right in saying I am a prophet, I am. I was also the Son of God, but this does not invalidate the fact that I was also a prophet. Thus, prophets look like me.
Prophets do not draw lines the way most men and empires do.
Prophets have a way with animals.
Prophets find their solace in the Divine.
They share a strange connection with God that is considered ‘not-possible’ in the eyes of most people…
“And it is true, many cannot have what the prophets have. Not because I will not give it, but because it means one will have to live differently and most do not choose that.”
“The reason why the life that you and Storm want to live feels so impossible is not because it is so, but because you have seen so few who have ventured to even try. Few would even consider taking things so far as you have, on a risk.” {The risk Jesus was talking about is walking this path, of stepping into dives and following the spiritual guidance they have brought us. We have treated this new way of life like an experiment, seeing if it “holds weight.” But this path has come without guarantees, it has at times felt like we are taking a risk simply by walking it…}
He continued, “You have experimented to see if you are right. There are also other ways you have done so… Many would be too terrified to take such a risk. That’s why they have insurances in the first place, to avoid risks. Thus why would they take such a risk for a different kind of life when they do not even know if it is possible?”
“Your culture has changed over time. In recent years it has come to reward the risk-avoiders, rather than the risk-takers. This has not been so in the past. For example, the United States was a country founded on the very opposite, {on rewarding the risk-takers.}
Whenever an empire gets to this stage, it is in its late stages and will crumble in the relatively near future. For when something becomes averse to taking any risks, it actually ensures its slow demise…”
“It is easy to think about the ways that predatory animals do not prosper without risk. Every hunt is a risk, both that they will expend precious energy on a wasted venture, and also that they will be harmed while hunting. Yet if they do not hunt, they do not eat. Many think of this, but many do not think about the prey. Imagine if a deer never ventured out into the open field to graze, exposing themselves to easier hunting, but also filling their bellies. And imagine that they would never run from one patch of forest to another when it ran low on food. It is true that the weak are sometimes picked off and they sense this risk. Yet they are driven on by the need to stay with their herd for safety and the need for food. The stronger move the herd and the herd stays together.”
“But what happens when you remove the stronger, the ones who lead the herd, out of the group? What if those were magically the ones that were predated? After a while, you would end up with sickly herds that never moved on and predators would easily pick them off, one by one, whenever they were hungry. It is so with empires that stop taking risks. They become sickly and predators can move in. Others can compete with them, for the risk-takers will pass them by… Do not worry, not everything can be propped-up forever. For even if it were so, others would still pass them by and render them un-competitive, bringing about their demise… It is so for a reason.”

On the Dark Moon*
*This is often referred to as the “new moon” in modern vernacular. But many traditional cultures considered the new moon to occur when the moon is once again visible. Because I too hold to this idea, I am using the words “Dark moon” to refer to the days when the moon is hidden.

Temples: From Gold to Embodiment -Chapter 6 of "We Are Portals"
“I set the new format for mankind. I changed the ways of the temple from that of stone and gold to that of the body…”
“Now, if one believes in me… a portal is placed in their body, one that directly links to heaven. This means that man no longer needs institutions to connect to God…”
