Tending the Garden (Building Your Own Land)
An angel's thoughts on the value of building up our local ecosystem.

Sometimes I listen to music to aid my dives, other times I put a single nature track on repeat, each has a slightly different effect. Hit this track on repeat to deepen the immersion as you read…
Tending the Garden (Building Your Own Land)
“Don’t you find it interesting that many of the land animals you are meant to eat are large grazers? Not squirrels, and raccoon and rabbits? What does this mean? It means that you are meant to inhabit mature ecosystems. You can find rabbits nearly everywhere, even in many deserts, but that is not your place. You are like an apex-predator that is somewhat dependent on a rich ecosystem. Yet your culture does not currently recognize that. It is also interesting that grazers build up a land, goats in particular are terra-formers. You can graze them places where cattle cannot yet roam, and their droppings begin falling on the earth. You can build things up from there.”
“Then why do I see so many desert places where people have goats? But as far as I can tell it’s been desert for a long time, and it’s certainly still that way now.” I asked.
“For one thing, you have to know how to use the goat for such purposes, and you have to know how to build up an ecosystem. Many people do not know how, nor is this their aim fully. They want to make a living in the land they inhabit. But to truly transform it, that is not a thing in their mind.”
“This is what it means to tend the garden: to build up the land (eco-system), to make more of it.”
“In Adam’s case he was meant to care for and learn about the garden for a while, then spread it further. But this knowledge was lost, the knowledge of building up and the quest to do it. Many came and found fertile regions, then made a living in them. In order to build up an ecosystem you have to have some level of understanding. If this knowledge is largely lost then you will not see much building up. It doesn’t mean it never happens, it means it is rare.”
“Do you not think man lost his great commission sometime after the fall? That many would have deviated from it? Oh yes they did. They spread out, but then they began to concentrate on ruling each other and ruling the sky (the sky represents heaven and all the gods within it) rather than ruling over nature and caring for her.
They built empires instead of forests… This was the thing God disliked about what they were doing: Instead of being content with their allotment, they, like Satan, wanted to take God’s place and cast off their ruler. They paid no mind to what was their own, what was under them, and thought themselves better than what they were given.”
“It is the same today, many think themselves better than whatever home (or land, etc.) they are in. Instead of building up their own lot, they prefer to tell others what to do. To use the government to make laws that govern large entities and others who have ‘better lots.’ The masses always prefer to rule what is not theirs, whatever they deem to be the ‘better,’ or higher, allotment. And so the world is a mish-mash of everyone messing about in everything else.”
“If you do not like your lot, build it up anyway, and perhaps you will be given a better one, or perhaps you will have come to love it by then.”
“If you cannot do that, at least sell it free and clear and purchase something else for yourself to care for and tend. But do not tell another man how to manage his lot instead of managing your own.”

Lunar: 2 nights after the Dark Moon.*
*This is often referred to as the “new moon” in modern vernacular. But many traditional cultures considered the new moon to occur when the moon is once again visible. Because I too hold to this idea, I am using the words “Dark moon” to refer to the days when the moon is hidden.
