“You’re a catalyst, but you do not always need to catalyze. You are like a sneaky element like baking soda, seemingly benign enough until vinegar is mixed with it. And suddenly no one knows what hit them. Your power courses through your veins, but it only shows up when you need it. It responds when things happen. You are highly reactive. You do not need to show your power because it is like a reflex, it will be there whenever the moment strikes, rising up exactly as it is needed, then fading back behind the skin. Cobras keep their fangs tucked away until they strike, you should do the same. For your venom is potent.”

Venom

“Isn’t venom a bad thing?” I asked, sensing there was something to unearth in this topic.

“Not when you are slaying enemies. And sometimes venom is the very thing that wakes someone up. It is a subtle art form. Sometimes when someone is sleeping the only way to wake them is for them to start dying... (This may be metaphorical, or literal when someone brushes with death in an accident.) These near-death experiences, even minor ones, sometimes snap a person awake. Sometimes in life you have a choice, a circumstance is presented to you and you either awaken or you die a partial death. You could call that a venom, for you will either wake up or die.”

“It is up to them which of the two will be their fate. Those are times of breaking.”

“Times of awakening are often violent, for not all survive the transformation, and that is why things often go wrong during such times. Why evil often creeps in with the advancement, it is a time of both breaking and waking up. Times of venom.”

“Times where things crumble and times where it snaps others awake as they suddenly realize what is happening. On the trail of death there is a final offer to get off before it takes you. That is the moment when you snap out of the matrix and suddenly shake out of the path of the slow death, which is quickened in such times. Otherwise, it swallows you...”

“So I’m a viper, injecting people with something that either brings about a partial death or wakes them up and saves them?” I questioned.

Father let out a little laugh. “Something like that. Remember the verse where it says that you are the fragrance of life to some and the stench of death to others? It is the same thing. It is the moment of the red pill or blue pill from the Matrix movie. Except, in a curious twist of fate the substance is the same, (there is only one pill.) One’s reaction to it is what chooses whether or not you go back to sleep or awaken from the malaise of matrix.”

“That is why you have an urge to draw a line in the sand and yell ‘choose!’ That is because you are the substance and when you apply yourself you force others to make that choice. They must now choose between a partial death or an awakening which is a returning of life.”

“The element that brings resurrection is the same element that brings death. That is why it always follows death, the power for the resurrection is embedded into death itself. Some might say it is a cruel trick, though it does not need to be so. For if you understand it, you can learn to work it in your favor. Just like the phoenix, she embraces her death and speeds it along knowing that she will be reborn and she will be stronger than before. Those who understand such cycles can live like the phoenix, knowing when to set something ablaze and move on, so that they do not fight death. Rather, they avoid dragging it out and instead rebirth faster and stronger. They lean into the flames instead of away from them...”

“But it is not always the time of the flames, there are other seasons as well. There is the spring and the times of building and growth, but eventually the twilight approaches again and it is time to embrace the dark of night and of death...”

“So I’m a catalyst.” I responded.

He nodded. “The problem that you had, is that you did not recognize the cycle properly. You do not understand that if someone chooses to awaken, that often has an element of suddenness. But if someone decided to go back to sleep - that is the slow road to death. It is the path of the un-dead, if you will. This means that their death comes about very slowly. So when you saw people from the church where you grew up choosing death, you didn’t understand. For it looked like nothing happened as a result of that decision… That is always the illusion, it will look that way. But the decay has already set in like a lingering, slow moving cancer under the surface and their fate is already upon them. But it takes a while for the cancer to claim them. It is this way with the church that kicked you out, which persists. But now, years later it has diminished. It will continue to do so, but very slowly, for that is how the path of slow death works... You thought nothing happened because they were not set aflame, and because no prophet came and slew the priests. But you were wrong... Death is a creeping thing when it is chosen in such a way. It slowly hollows until there is only a shell left, then the shell turns to dust that is blown away by the wind.” Father let out a long exhale making the sound of the wind. And I watched images of a person turning into a dry, hollow shell. Then, when Father breathed, it was blown away like ash. It sent a chill up my spine.

“You must learn that when someone doesn’t choose awakening, they have chosen sleep, the slow death. Often, it will take a while before you see the results of your effects on them. Do not let it make you think that you have done nothing. The effect has set in, and you needn’t worry yourself about the rest, they are as dead men walking, and they should be dead to you before the rest see what is already true.”

“I am telling you this because times of awakening are upon you. I am giving you eyes to understand the venom of your times. I want you to understand how to navigate them, so I am telling you how to interpret them. You are a forerunner Little One. You are the times.

“Prophets are often born not just as signs of the times, but they are the times in a microcosm. They bring about the same things that their time will, but in a smaller scale. If the times are times of mourning then that prophet will bring mourning to the people he brushes shoulders with. It will come first to his own community and people. And if a prophet is a catalyst or a dragon, she will catch things aflame before the times of awakening hit in the greater courts. The people in her community will have already chosen by the time the waves of awakening arrive. They will be prepared or already dying.”

“You bring what is coming. It is because you yourself are the substance, and because you are in alignment with the times. You walk with creatures who herald in the times, and so you are one little display of it, walking in flesh on earth. I always do that. I bring spiritual creatures in to move the times, but I always put a few of them onto the earth as humans...as anchor points and metaphors. They are like little lightening rods, yet there is a storm across the whole earth. Yet still, they serve as an image so that others can interpret what is happening.”

“Prophets are like microcosms of the larger workings. If you study the prophets of your own time and see what is happening in their lives, and learn their personality, then you will know your time and what is coming. They are the legend to the time-map.”

I nodded.

“Come here Willow.” Father opened his arms gesturing for an embrace. I climbed up the throne into his waiting arms, as he tucked them around me and pulled me close. I scooted in and leaned my head against his shoulder, sighing.

“My Little Willow,” he crooned while he brushed a hand along my hair. He was in human form today. I reached up and stroked his white beard. As I did, glistening colored light formed a trail just behind my hand. He looked something like Dumbledore. And that made me smile…
