Emerald’s history
An astral-dragon's back-story
A special thank you goes out to Alysia from Dragonwings Collective & Moonrise Mystic for creating the artwork for this post!
Alysia also has interactions with dragons. (She has an earth dragon named Shasta.) You can check out either of her publications by clicking it’s name above, or using the links at the bottom of this post. (AI was used to assist in creating this art.)
Music
If you’d like to deepen the immersion, you can listen to this song as you read.
Storm and I were relaxing, listening to music. I was meditating and fading in and out of light sleep. When I was awake, I began reaching out to engage with Emerald to learn more about her. As soon as I made contact she began showing me an image of an old ship. It had many barrels on board (confirming that this was long ago.) There was a crew of men, many of them had auburn hair. They were singing and half dancing, moving around in joyous, skipping-type motions, they seemed slightly inebriated. I was struck by how filled with joy they all seemed. I was confused however what this had to do with a dragon…
As the crew milled about on the ship my vision zoomed out and I saw Emerald flying near the ship, sometimes circling it, other times flying alongside it. Then she plopped down into the water right next to the ship like a sea bird. I was thrown by this -expecting her to sink and unable to understand how she could land when she had nothing to land on. So I kept watching, to my surprise she plopped into the water and floated, just like a seabird, she began propelling herself forward with her legs, kicking unseen beneath the water.
Emerald explained to me that there are water dragons who are very much like seabirds, they fly and float in the water, and they do come on land occasionally but they don’t enjoy venturing very far from the water, preferring to stay near the shores. I also saw that sometimes they can scare other land creatures so this is another reason why they do not venture far onto the shore which is not their territory.
She continued and told me that some ships have dragons, and some dragons have ships.
“It is interesting how many tales of sailors involve sea serpents,” she said, “for dragons protected ships from a great many things including sea serpents. Meanwhile other legends evolved until the dragons were the sea serpents themselves.”
Emerald then reminded me that it was empire that twisted dragons into evil creatures, they were not always seen this way.
“We loved our crews and our crews loved us,” she crooned with pride. “Ships were very happy if they were lucky enough to have a dragon. That was my ship and my crew that I showed you. I am showing you this because it is my story and you wanted to get to know me.”
Note
After having this vision, I was told to look up some information about Vikings and dragons. I read that many Viking ships had dragons on prow, but they could find no pattern as to why some ships had them and others didn’t since there was no pattern that matched size of any other trait as an indicator of it’s prow. Emerald told me that the ships that had spirit-dragons would decorate their prows with dragons.
According to Viking tradition this decoration was removed from the boat whenever it was brought onto land and stored away out of respect and also for fear that it would scare the wildlife including the local spiritual entities. For this reason it was never brought far in-land.
This aligned perfectly with what Emerald has told me earlier about staying near the waters to avoid disturbing the wildlife, but I had no previous knowledge of these traditions….
If something in this post resonated with you I’d love to hear about it!

Meeting a Water Dragon
Journal note: I had been looking forward to attending this concert for months, and I has a deep knowing that it was important for me to go and was curious to see what would happen because of that inner-knowing.

As soon as reading about the connection between ships and dragons, I thought of the Viking boots that had dragons on them, so I was trilled when I read further! Maybe that’s why I resonate with Vikings, especially lately, because they honored and respected dragons ♥️
I would bet that in some realities, dragons are/were physical beings, and you probably are/were part of one of those realities. I think all or at least most of the "mythical" creatures are real somewhere and not fantasy, not even astral-only beings.
